The museum preserves the important World War II history of “America’s First Defense Airport,” dedicated by the U.S. War Department in 1941. During its four-year existence, more than 10,000 men and women served here, with 1,500 pilots receiving advanced fighter training in p-47 Thunderbolt and P-40 Warhawk fighter planes.
Discover a multitude of unique displays and exhibits honoring America’s military history, saluting veterans, and promoting aviation — past, present and future.
Explore aircraft, murals, artifacts and military aviation exhibits located in and among original WWII buildings that are part of the New Jersey Historic Register. The main museum is located in the original WWII base headquarters building. A rare, operational Link Trainer flight simulator is on display in the original Link Trainer Building. There is so much more to see and appreciate!
